AHHHH so i weighed in at 174 this morning!! With the new eating habits and total dedication to the gym (yea, 530am to work outs plus after work!) and the pounds are melting off!
but...looming is the blessed weekend. And this weekend I am heading out to a cabin in WVA which will be filled with awful snack foods and worst yet...liquor. UGH! I KNOW that I want to have one night of intoxication for funsies, but I don't want to ruin everything i did this week because of one night of frivoloty! But this is prob that one time I will see some of these friends until the wedding, so i definitely want to have a good time, and trust me, you do not want to be the one sober person with the crowd I am going with, its 10x better to participate in the festivities, so i was looking at ways to be able to feel the buzz that wont ruin all my hard work.
anyways, looked up this article for some help on what to order...
http://fatlossschool.com/blog/low-calorie-alcohol-drinks/
I will be probably getting some wine for myself (high alcohol content, as well as a natural drink thats good for you, approx 150 calories for 4 oz), as well as making a max of 2 mixed drinks- manhatten and mojito. I also plan on not eatnig a lot tomorrow so that I dont have to drink as much to feel the buzz ( not that I am looking to get sloshed by any means, but I need a drink or two more than the avg person to get just a buzz)
info- did you know a Long Island iced Tea had OVER 1000 calories? Yikes!
Luckily there will be a pool so I will be swimming laps sometime over the weekend for some cardio (maybe sat afternoon?) to work those arms, and burn that mojito off!
Good luck to everyone this weekend! Think healthy and have fun!

Fun chart I am keeping to track the progress :)

10 pounds is amazing Erica! Well done!! Alcohol was never my downfall (I don't like beer, or wine, and only some mixed drinks) but snacks...oh jeez! They're everywhere!! And I can't believe how many calories are in things....and yet i eat them anyways =) You're inspiring me to get back to the grind of it all (grind in a good sense!)...keep going Erica!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin! It was hard at first, but now its getting easier, my appetitie has decreased a lot and I dont even crave any of those snack foods anymore mostly because I dont want to sabotage all my hard work! though I still do have the occasional treat :)
ReplyDeletebut I'm going to keep on truckin! thanks for the encouragement!
Congrats on breaking the 175 goal!! 174 is awesome... you are doing SO good! See, once you see and feel the results, waking up at 5:30 am to go running doesn't seem as bad :)
ReplyDeleteI hear ya about the weekend! Ugh... tailgaiting at concerts, night out in Baltimore... I am trying to mentally prepare myself as well! I think I'm going to use your strategy... light on the eating so I don't have to drink as much to feel the buzz. It sounds so awful... but it works! haha.
That's a good article! Some of the things that I've started drinking are flavored vodkas and soda water. Like raspberry vodka and soda with a lime... not too bad and only like 90 calories or so.... and I love my rum and diet too! haha. Also, if you get a mojito, have them make it with splenda instead of sugar... other than that it's only mint, rum and soda water... so very low cal!.... Ummm, where did you get those stats on the long island? It shouldn't have that many calories in it. It's only 1/2 oz vodka, 1/2 oz rum, 1/2 oz gin, 1/2 oz whiskey (optional) & 1/2 oz triple sec... which is at most 250 calories, then a splash of coke and sour mix. I would've only guessed 500 tops (for a 12 oz drink), less if you use diet coke. Hmmmm? I may look into that a little more.
Another tip I learned - when you go out, or even around the house. Wear something more form fitting. If you walk around in baggy clothes it's easier to just pig out. If you walk around in an unforgiving top, you will be less likely to stuff your belly. I'm definitely going to try this one over the weekend!
Hopefully I will get in some workout time this weekend too. How you doing with your arms?
LOL Alyson- I am sure Jason will love that extra tip! heehee
ReplyDeleteas for my Long Island iced tea, i read that online a long time ago, i think back in college, because it was my fav drink then, but when i learned it = a chipotle burrito i was like NOOOO, so I will have to re-look. Still, 12oz drink with almost 500 calories? it does the job though, and is yummy :)
when i was reading the article I thought of you because i knew you were going out this weekend. I think, along with eating less day of festivities, bring our own alcohol, that way you have your own low cal stash (at least for the tailgate)
but yea, its so motivating when you are seeing the progress! this morning it was overcast and dark which usually i take the opportunity to just roll over a sleep longer, but today i popped right out of bed at 530! I just have this "nothing is goign to stop me" thing going on right now...i cant wait for 4 weeks to go by! I am hoping to lose as much as July, but I dont want to get my hopes up :)
as for my arms, they hurt! I have been doing push ups or free weights every day. I have yet to bring in my resistance band to work...i am def going to do that next week. I think my arms are going to be the slowest to tone, they are sooooo flabby, its bad, i am pretty much fighting years and years of no exercise or toning of the arms ever, as well as genetics for larger arms.
have you been running this week? how is the diet going? must stay strong this weekend! Just say no (to food, so you can have more to drink!)
Hahaha. He might not like the extra tip yet... but eventually when I look good in those form fitting clothes he will! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree 500 or 1000, both are a bit too much for 1 drink! You do have to weigh the effectiveness too though. lol. I could drink 10 beers for 1000 calories, but may not even be buzzed. That long island may do the trick though!
Good call. I should go pick up some mixers, so I'm not stuck drinking beer all night. I don't mind beer... but the next day bloating sucks. Sometimes when I'm drinking beer I just get full before I even feel anything... also sucky!
Good for you working out so hard! It get's easier! Especially when it means getting to go shopping for new smaller, cuter clothes!... I've been trying to do 3 or 4- 10 minute arm sets with my resistance band everyday. Other than that, I haven't had time to do much cardio :/ The diet is going well though. 1200 calories a day. I've been good turning down the junk food. This weekend is a test though! (Starting tonight!) Jason asked his grandmother to make a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing for his birthday!!!! Mmmmmm (I'm melting just thinking about it)! So, we'll see how these next couple days go!
I like your motto... "just say no (to food, so you can have more to drink)" haha. My new fav!!!!
good job i am so proud of you!!!! I am going to have to use one of those charts too.. where do you find it?!?! Keep up the good work... an dpost pictures!
